Meishan Youth Activity Center is situated at 109.5km section of Southern Cross-Island Highway, within the southwest boundary of Jade Mountain National Park. That area is called the entrance of Meishan by the locals. The center is 110 kilometers to Tainan City. Since Southern Cross-Island Highway is the residence of BuNun Tribe, Meishan Youth Activity Center is rich in aboriginal colors and primitive air.
Southern Cross-Island Highway was finished and open to vehicular traffic in 1972. Meishan Youth Activity Center and Yakou Youth Hostel were constructed along Southern Cross-Island Highway, providing various youth activities and convenient accommodations. Meishan Youth Activity Center provides various accommodation choices, with 40 guestrooms in total. The restaurant can accommodate 150 people; Meishan shop provides coffee, beverages, artworks and wooden outdoor area.
Meishan area had got its name because of its production of plums. Tourists swarm here to watch the plum, peach, apricot flowers. Along the line of South Cross-Island Highway, rich scenic resources are offered to travelers aiming at in-depth intellectual trip. Major attractions like BaoLai Hot Spring, Bunun culture village, Jade Mountain National Park, variety of animals and plants, colorful cloud sea and ancient trails all scatter along this line.
